The NYU Law & Business Association is one of the core student organizations at NYU School of Law. Among other accomplishments, LBA leadership and members spearheaded the proposal for the Journal of Law & Business, which produced its inaugural publication in 2004.
LBA membership is among the largest of all student organizations on campus, and our student budget has grown significantly in recent years to support our initiatives. LBA now provides several valuable services to its members and the student body generally, including a Mentorship Program, an annual CLE event with the Journal of Law & Business, and a variety of social networking events.
Mission Statement
For those of you who are new to NYU School of Law, the Law & Business Association is established to pursue both scholarship and professional opportunities in the various disciplines arising out of the crossroads of law and business:
- Academically, LBA is closely connected to the Journal of Law & Business, the Center for Law & Business and its Certificate in Law & Business program, the Berkeley Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, the Mitchell Jacobson Program in Law & Business, and the joint JD/MBA program with NYU Stern. Our members are a significant resource in selecting courses and professors and in navigating the various law and business programs of study at NYU School of Law and NYU Stern.
- Professionally, LBA provides opportunities to meet professionals in an informal and personal environment, pairs members with mentors from the corporate and legal communities, and in the past has provided students with opportunities to organize, manage, market and finance real world projects. Members have been hired at the firms of their mentors, received scholarships designated specifically for students pursuing studies in law and business, and been introduced to over $150,000 in potential awards through business plan competitions and other opportunities.
